Hi, I’m Deborah Medari, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-C
I’m an integrative psychiatric nurse practitioner and wellness coach who believes true healing happens when we address the mind, body, and spirit—inviting the Holy Spirit into the process every step of the way.
My journey into psychiatry began through years of ministry, motherhood, and personal healing. I first trained as a marriage and family therapist, then became a psychiatric nurse practitioner because I saw how deeply biology, trauma, and faith all intersect in mental health. I’ve experienced loss and am a survivor of trauma myself, which gives me deep compassion for those carrying unseen burdens. After witnessing stigma in both the church and the medical world, I felt called to create a space where Christians could receive compassionate, evidence-based mental health care without having to separate their faith from their healing.
Do you…
Feel like you’ve tried everything—prayer, scripture, even therapy—but still struggle with anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm?
Wonder why the fruit of the Spirit feels out of reach, no matter how hard you try?
Carry invisible burdens while leading, caregiving, or holding your family together—and feel like no one really sees you?
You’re not alone. And you don’t have to keep doing this on your own.
I Believe…
I believe that true healing and transformation come from the Holy Spirit. He sees what’s really going on beneath the surface—beyond words, beyond circumstances—and He alone knows the depths of every heart. I trust that when I ask God for wisdom, He will give it, just as He promised.
I believe it is God’s will for every believer to walk in the victory that has already been won for them. But I also recognize that we have a spiritual enemy who actively works to keep us discouraged, bound, and broken.
I believe that God works in many ways—through His Word, through the support of others, and through the wisdom He gives us for daily life. While struggles may show up in our thoughts, emotions, or even our bodies, I believe they also carry spiritual dimensions that are just as important to address.
True transformation is most powerful when the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—is cared for together. That’s why my clinical approach blends evidence-informed strategies with prayer, biblical truth, and Spirit-led guidance—always aligned with each client’s faith and values.
Renew Your Mind
Romans 12:2 NIV
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
A reminder that change is possible, healing is real, and transformation begins within.
Who I Help
-
Who I Help -
While I work with a broad range of individuals, I specialize in caring for women, couples, and ministry leaders who are navigating complex mental health concerns at the intersection of life stress, faith, and responsibility. My role as a psychiatric provider is to offer a confidential, compassionate, clinically grounded and Spirit-led space where symptoms can be addressed honestly, treatment options explored thoughtfully, and healing pursued without shame or judgment.
Ministry Leaders, Pastors, Clergy
You’re called to carry the burdens of others—but who carries yours? Behind the sermons, the counseling, and the leadership, there’s often exhaustion, anxiety, and a deep sense of isolation. You may feel pressure to “hold it all together,” even while struggling privately with depression, burnout, or trauma. It’s hard to admit you're not okay when people look to you for spiritual strength. I provide a confidential, grace-filled space where you can be human—no pressure, no judgment. You don’t have to suffer silently. You deserve support, too.
Individuals in Crisis of Faith
You may feel disconnected from God, uncertain of His presence, or unsure what you believe. Perhaps you’ve prayed for change and feel ashamed that you’re still struggling. Maybe you’ve stepped away from church but something in you is still searching. Wrestling with doubt, disappointment, or spiritual disillusionment doesn’t make you a “bad Christian”—it makes you human. I provide a safe place to process your faith journey honestly, with curiosity, compassion, and without the pressure to have it all figured out.
Caregivers
You spend your days giving to others—children, aging parents, spouses, congregants—but when was the last time someone cared for you? Caregiving often brings burnout, guilt, and emotional depletion. You may feel invisible, spiritually drained, or unsure of who you are outside of your role. Together, we’ll focus on restoring your emotional and spiritual well-being, setting boundaries without shame, and rediscovering your own God-given identity. You deserve care, too.
Survivors of Abuse
The wounds of abuse can run deep, affecting how you see yourself, others, and even God. Trust may feel fragile—especially if the harm came from someone who claimed faith. You might wonder why healing feels so slow, or if you’ll ever feel whole again. In psychiatric care, we move at a pace that honors your nervous system and your story. I provide a trauma-informed, faith integrated clinical space where symptoms are treated thoughtfully, safety is prioritized, and healin is supported with compassion—so restoration can unfold without pressure or shame.
Challenges I Help You Overcome
Anxiety & Depression
You’ve prayed for peace. You’ve clung to joy. But the anxiety won’t let you rest, and the heaviness just won’t lift. I help Christian individuals uncover the biological, emotional, and spiritual roots of their depression and anxiety through personalized psychiatric care. Treatment may include therapy-informed support, mind-body practices, lifestyle and nutritional considerations, and—when appropriate—thoughtful medication management, all within a compassionate, faith integrated clinical framework.
Trauma & PTSD
Memories from the past may still feel raw, confusing, or intrusive. You’ve forgiven, but the pain remains. As a survivor myself, I approach trauma with deep compassion, blending faith-based counseling, nervous system regulation, and gentle, integrative tools to help you heal in both body and spirit.
Impulse Control & Addictive Behaviors
Whether it’s food, substances, or other behaviors, the cycle of regret and shame can feel endless. I help clients understand the brain-body connection behind impulsivity and addiction, while also exploring the spiritual wounds that often feed these patterns. You’ll receive real tools for lasting change—not just quick fixes.
Burnout in Ministry & Caregiving
You’re the one everyone leans on—but who’s there for you? I support pastors, ministry leaders, and caregivers who feel emotionally and spiritually drained. We’ll create space for your healing, help you reconnect with God, and build rhythms of rest that sustain your calling—not just survive it.
Eating Disorders & Body Image
You want to honor your body, but food and self-image have become a battlefield. I provide compassionate, trauma-informed psychiatric care that addressed the biological, emotional, and spiritual factors involved in disordered eating and body image concerns. Treatment is grounded in Christian values and may include nutritional support, psychotherapy-informed interventions, and medication when appropriate—so healing can unfold with dignity, stability, and freedom, withouth shame.
Faith & Mental Health
You’ve felt the stigma. Maybe you’ve even been told your symptoms were a spiritual failure. I believe your mental health struggle is not a sign of weak faith. I welcome God into every session and walk with you to restore what’s been broken—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
Treatment Options
I take a holistic, Spirit-led approach to mental health coaching—one that honors your faith, your story, and your whole person. Together, we’ll look at what’s happening biologically, emotionally, and spiritually, and build a personalized coaching strategy that aligns with your values and goals for growth and renewal.
Psychiatric Evaluation and Diagnosis
I take time to understand your symptoms, history, and lived experience—not just check boxes. Together, we clarify what’s contributing to your distress so we can build a treatment plan that feels accurate, respectful, and aligned with your goals and faith.
Medication management is approached thoughtfully and prayerfully, with careful attention to your symptoms, preferences, and overall health. When medication is appropriate, we work together to choose options that support stability and healing—never as a replacement for faith, but as one tool within a whole-person approach.
Medication Management
I provide a safe, Christ-centered space to process life’s challenges, strengthen healthy thought patterns, and experience spiritual renewal through evidence-informed tools and biblical truth.
Faith-Integrated Psychotherapy
Lifestyle & Nutritional Support
We’ll talk through simple ways to support your body with nutrition and daily habits that fuel energy, balance mood, and honor God’s natural design.
Mind-Body-Spirit Connection
Your emotional and spiritual health is deeply conncected to how you live day to day. In our sessions, we’ll explore practical rhythms for sleep, stress, movement, and rest—making small, grace-filled changes that create lasting impact.
Renewal Practices
I integrate prayer, scripture, breathwork, and biblical mindfulness practices to help you regulate your nervous system, deepen your spiritual connection, and cultivate peace from the inside out.
Coaching Available Separately
If you’re not seeking medical treatment, but want faith-based support for emotional healing and spiritual growth, check out the Renewed Mind Method Coaching Program—a separate offering designed for Christian women navigating trauma, anxiety, or burnout. (Coaching is available in most states.)
Needing support is not failure—it’s wisdom. Healing is not weakness—it’s growth.
This is where your journey out of shame begins, and your walk into freedom unfolds.
